Neu‑Ulm – Expanding capabilities at the Neu‑Ulm plant: Daimler Buses has brought the new Reman Core Consolidation Center, internally referred to as the CCC, into operation. From now on, the bus manufacturer will manage the logistics for the remanufacturing of genuine parts – known as “Remanufacturing,” or “Reman” for short. Daimler Buses will also handle this task for the truck segment. To this end, the company expanded an existing hall on the plant premises by approximately 5,000 m². All used parts intended for remanufacturing will now arrive here. The Daimler Buses expert team inspects these parts and forwards them to the respective specialist departments at Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses plants in Germany or to the respective suppliers for remanufacturing. Previously, this process was carried out by an external service provider.

In doing so, we are making an important contribution to efficiency and sustainability for both Daimler Buses and the Daimler Truck Group as a whole. At the same time, we are demonstrating how we are continuously developing our Neu‑Ulm site and making the best possible use of synergies within the Group.”

Used truck and bus parts – such as engines or transmissions – are disassembled, cleaned, industrially reconditioned, and reassembled with new wear parts by specialists in the company’s own plants or by suppliers following precise specifications. This process ensures that genuine remanufactured parts offer the same quality as new parts.

Customers can purchase the reconditioned parts through Aftersales at attractive conditions. Reman is an example of circular economy in practice, reduces costs for customers, and conserves resources.

Remanufacturing is a key element of the circular economy at Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses. The truck and bus manufacturer pursues a comprehensive circularity approach with the following focus areas: redesign, waste reduction, repair and reuse of components, remanufacturing, and the recycling of vehicles, components, and materials. These measures help conserve valuable resources, reduce waste, and extend product life cycles. This approach is complemented by a systematic consideration of material inflows and outflows to close material loops as completely as possible. The circular economy is a strategic sustainability focus area at Daimler Truck. Step by step, the company is working to reduce its environmental footprint and enhance its long‑term resilience – today and in the future.
