With the current BlueEFFICIENCY Power engine generation, Mercedes-Benz has used the additional exhaust gas aftertreatment feature to optimise fuel and AdBlue consumption. The ancillary components, transmission and rear axle have also been systematically trimmed down to be more efficient. And the BlueEFFICIENCY package delivers even greater efficiency: with optimised alternator management, fuel pump and tyre rolling resistance, and an integral ECO power-steering pump and ECO start/stop function.
Added to this are the new and significantly extended oil change intervals - of up to 60,000 km or two years at the latest - for diesel-powered vehicles; and maintenance intervals of up to 120,000 km depending on type of deployment, which the standard-fit Active Service System calculates on the basis of payload while also showing the remaining life of the maintenance-relevant components.
The results are truly impressive: Their outstandingly low fuel consumption figures now put the economical Sprinters on the level of passenger cars. The only thing that hasn't changed despite all the savings is the legendary performance of the engines.
