Sprinter Travel

Economy & technology.

The Sprinter Travel has always been one of the top performers when it comes to economic efficiency. Equipped with advanced Euro VI technology, the expert in economising has now become even more economical. And especially in high-mileage touring coach use its reduced consumption and extended maintenance intervals pay dividends for you, mile after mile after mile. Three model variants and a wide range of equipment features make it easy for you to configure a mini touring coach that meets your individual needs. One that still turns in a profit for you when a large coach has long since stopped making economic sense.

With the current BlueEFFICIENCY Power engine generation, Mercedes-Benz has used the additional exhaust gas aftertreatment feature to optimise fuel and AdBlue consumption. The ancillary components, transmission and rear axle have also been systematically trimmed down to be more efficient. And the BlueEFFICIENCY package delivers even greater efficiency: with optimised alternator management, fuel pump and tyre rolling resistance, and an integral ECO power-steering pump and ECO start/stop function.

Added to this are the new and significantly extended oil change intervals - of up to 60,000 km or two years at the latest - for diesel-powered vehicles; and maintenance intervals of up to 120,000 km depending on type of deployment, which the standard-fit Active Service System calculates on the basis of payload while also showing the remaining life of the maintenance-relevant components.

The results are truly impressive: Their outstandingly low fuel consumption figures now put the economical Sprinters on the level of passenger cars. The only thing that hasn't changed despite all the savings is the legendary performance of the engines.

Mercedes-Benz has played a pioneering role in the development of environmentally friendly, innovative drive systems for many years now. With BlueEfficiency Power Mercedes-Benz has again set new benchmarks. As a result, the Sprinter BlueTEC engines already complied with the stringent requirements of the Euro VI standard in 2013 thanks to sophisticated SCR technology with AdBlue injection.

One of the most sustainable vehicles in its class, the Sprinter achieves outstanding emissions and consumption figures thanks to a wide range of efficiency measures. In conjunction with the optional BlueEFFICIENCY package, the frugal Sprinter models are even more sparing with fuel: Consumption sinks by up to 0.5 l/100 km, meaning it is now on the level of a passenger car.

Its name says it all: The Sprinter Travel stands for extraordinary driving dynamics in its vehicle class. The engine output range remains unchanged: powerful four and six-cylinder diesel engines with output ranging from 95 kW (129 hp) to 140 kW (190 hp). So as to offer comfortable gear-changing up and down the range, there is now, in addition to a six-speed manual transmission system, a seven-speed automatic transmission system with torque conversion available - the only system of its kind offered for a minibus

The new Euro VI standard on exhaust gases requires a drastic reduction in emissions. In order to meet these requirements, a complex exhaust gas aftertreatment system is needed for the engines. At the centre of this system is the innovative SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) exhaust gas treatment technology, which, when AdBlue is added, turns harmful nitrogen oxide in a chemical catalytic reaction into water and nitrogen, elements which are harmless to the environment.

The result: 66 % fewer particulates and 80 % less nitrogen oxide compared to Euro V.And the added advantage: It's not just the emissions - consumption is significantly lower, too.
