On the road to success with the Tourismo.

Successful partnership with Portuguese Barraqueiro‑Group.

Portuguese Barraqueiro‑Group operates the largest private fleet on the Iberian Peninsular and one of the largest bus/touring coach fleets in Europe – as part of this, a long‑standing partnership with Daimler Buses has developed. The Tourismo forms an essential part of Barraqueiro’s corporate strategy, which is reflected in the central role it plays with over 600 vehicles in the fleet. Barraqueiro without the Tourismo? Something that has become unimaginable in Portugal.

The Tourismo is used for tourist trips in Europe and North Africa.

Barraqueiro‑Group uses its fleets in Portugal for both public transport and tourist trips. The fact that the company currently runs 620 new Tourismo vehicles impressively demonstrates that the touring coach is not only the backbone of the fleet, but is also part of the company’s strategy. With a wide range of equipment variants in terms of engine output, passenger capacity or luggage compartment volume, the touring coach is ideal for a wide range of applications. The high‑performance touring coach is used on all types of routes – for city trips, regional and long‑distance transport, national and international scheduled services or for tourist trips in Europe and North Africa.

“We particularly appreciate the versatility and reliability of the Tourismo in everyday operations.”

Miguel do Ó, Frota Azul-Managing Director

The Tourismo has continuously evolved and adapted to new trends in passenger transport while maintaining its technologically innovative drive and reliability. The qualities of the Tourismo are also reflected in the traditional design of the touring coach, which is just as intrinsically linked to the touring coach as the high level of ride comfort and high‑quality workmanship. Drivers and passengers alike appreciate the comfort of the vehicles – which is why the Portuguese company has been relying on touring coaches bearing the three‑pointed star for so long, some of which have been in operation for more than 16 years.

Barraqueiro values the quality, technological innovation and reliability of the Tourismo.

“Even after millions of kilometres, the Tourismo is still on the road, offering the same levels of reliability – that’s the best testimony you can give a touring coach.”

Pedro Andrade, Barraqueiro Transportes Fleet Manager

But it’s not only in day‑to‑day operations that the Tourismo demonstrates its qualities time and again. It is also a touring coach for the very special moments in life, and staff at the Portuguese company proudly look back at one of these moments, even after more than 10 years. After all, the company was the official carrier at the 2014 UEFA Champions League final at Estádio da Luz in Lisbon. Teams, club delegations as well as UEFA's official sponsors and VIP guests travelled safely and comfortably along Lisbon's roads in Barraqueiro's Tourismo. A tremendous effort and a tough test that the company and the Tourismo passed with flying colours.

“We can rely on each other. Trust and credibility are values that the Barraqueiro‑Group highly appreciates in its partnership with Daimler Buses.”

A vehicle for special moments and destinations.

After having ordered the first Tourismo at the end of the 1990s, Barraqueiro took charge of the 600th Tourismo in 2025 – an impressive sign of a successful partnership. The company has already announced the order of further Tourismo vehicles for the coming years – so it is only a matter of time until the next milestone in the cooperation will be reached. "We will continue to invest heavily in our fleet in the future. The journey towards Vision Zero in terms of road safety and reducing our ecological footprint are important common goals for Barraqueiro and Daimler Buses," Barraqueiro managers emphasise.
