Leinfelden-Echterdingen – 63 apprentices and dual study students embarked on their professional careers at the Daimler Buses site in Neu-Ulm this year. Till Oberwörder, Head of Daimler Buses and Chairman of the Management Board of Daimler Buses GmbH, welcomed the young colleagues to the training workshop at the Neu-Ulm plant on behalf of the entire management team.

The young colleagues had the opportunity to talk to him and ask him questions about himself, as well as questions about the Daimler Truck Group, his personal career, and his tasks in the company. During a joint tour of the training workshop, the new colleagues showed what they had already learned in the first weeks of training.

Till Oberwörder, Head of Daimler Buses & Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler Buses GmbH: “I am delighted that we can once again welcome many new young colleagues to the Daimler Buses site in Neu-Ulm this year. We are the only manufacturer to produce city buses and touring coaches in Germany – we rely on qualified specialists and new ideas so that we can continue to be successful in this in the future. Training is a central and valuable building block for us.”

A total of around 180 young people are currently completing an apprenticeship or a dual study programme at the Neu-Ulm site. The Neu-Ulm site offers apprenticeships in one commercial and six technical-industrial professions as well as training in four dual study programmes. Vocational training courses are offered for electronics technicians for automation technology, skilled warehouse managers, vehicle interior mechanics, body shop paint technicians, production mechanics, industrial clerks and automotive mechatronics technicians. In addition, the dual study programmes on offer are Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Digital Business Management, Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering/Vehicle Electronics, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/Information Technology and Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering.

Daimler Truck also offers a large number of job experience positions for pupils, as well as internships or dissertation opportunities for students. While the new cohort has only just started their training, the application process for 2024 is already in full swing: interested pupils and students can find out more and apply at www.daimlertruck.com/karriere/schueler Daimler Truck expressly welcomes applications from young people with disabilities. The Neu-Ulm site is the competence centre for touring coaches of all drive types and is part of the Daimler Buses production network. The plant was founded in 1991 by the former Karl Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke GmbH. By merging Mercedes-Benz Buses with the Kässbohrer Setra brand, the site became part of Daimler Buses in 1995. Final assembly of Mercedes-Benz and Setra touring coaches is at the Neu-Ulm plant. At the same time, the competence centre for 3D printed parts and paintwork, the development centre for safety and assistance systems as well as testing are located here. The location also includes the Setra Customer Centre, where sales talks, bus handovers, employee, customer and press events take place.
