Nowadays, the bus is considered one of the safest forms of transport. It is largely thanks to the contribution of Mercedes-Benz paying a lot of attention to development of new safety systems. There may be truth in the fact that there has been no other manufacturer that has assumed as much responsibility for the safety of its buses. After all, the anti-lock brakes system (ABS), which is now present on all buses, was first implemented on Mercedes-Benz buses.
Taking responsibility is paramount. For this reason, Mercedes-Benz continues to pursue its vision of safety on the road. Mercedes‑Benz's universal safety concept has made a significant contribution to implementation of this idea. To achieve a uniform implementation of the concept, all applicable systems of passive and active vehicle safety are involved: traffic safety, instant response to dangerous situations, passenger protection in case of an accident, and measures to minimise the consequences of accidents.
